History of Amer Fort (Amber Fort) :-

If you talk about the history of the fort of Amer, then let us tell you that it was a small town before the rule of the first turtles, which was built by a small tribe named Meenas. This fort gets its name from Amber i.e. Ambikeshwar, a name of Lord Shiva. However, locals say that the name is derived from the goddess Durga's name Amba. Formerly known as Dhundar, the city was ruled by turtles during the 11th century to the 16th century.
Raja Man Singh built the fort in 1592 AD and for the next 150 years his successors worked to expand and renovate the fort. Earlier this place was named Kadimi Mahal which is the oldest palace in India. The palace also has a small temple dedicated to her patron goddess 'Sheela Mata' which was built by Raja Man Singh.
